The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the government agency responsible for protecting the public health by “assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.” The FDA is also involved in finding ways to increase the safety, effectiveness, and affordability of medicines and foods and for providing the public with accurate information on using medicines and foods in ways that improve health. The FDA website provides up-to-date information on a number of topics and products, including information tailored specifically to women and children and content in Spanish.
